We had to really get creative on this one (but this is the kind of challenge we relish) Building out off the gable end of this two story boat house was tricky. Special blocking and backing to allow strength at the correct height and projection.The end result of this unique install not only pleased us, but the owner (a builder himself) was extremely impressed.
We were also impressed with his antique Chris Craft below us in this charming retreat. As evening approached the wind came up suddenly. our brackets held firm. After the third gust, the wind sensor did its job and automatically retracted the awning. With the awning now retracted the owner/builders wife commented on the glare pouring into the living room.
We handed her the RF Remote so she could send it back out. With the touch of a button the awning smoothly extended and blocked out the low angle evening sun without interfering with the lovely lake view. Wind was still high but our setting on the wind sensor’s potentiometer was perfect and the awning performed flawlessly.
It is not our usual practice to celebrate a great install with a frozen margarita, but it sure tasted great as we enjoyed a beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee Sunset over Alton Bay free of evening glare
